Neither Tom nor I are particularly religious people, but The Grotto came recommended from Tom’s mom as a pretty place to visit. So we started our adventures by walking to the Pearl, and Old Town, and Chinatown, and then catching MAX to The Grotto.

This ad speaks to me. But mostly because whiskey speaks to me.
We didn’t actually MEAN to go to Chinatown, but it was cool, so yay us.

The Grotto was mostly a beautiful arboretum, and while it can’t compete with my hometown Duke Gardens, it was lovely and meditative. Bonus, most of it was on top of a sheer cliff, so that was particularly cool.

I sometimes forget how much religion once meant to me. The story of Jesus ran through every aspect of the Grotto’s gardens, and it was familiar and meditative.

I’ll talk more about the conference I went to later, but one thing from it that resonated with me was that we don’t make enough time to just sit and think. A quiet walk through this place was nice for creating some of that space.
